Does High Energy Fire Stack
Seeing a lot of defoliation and mixed signals with the new Solar 3.0 keyword "Radiant" and how information technology is interacting with Empowering Buffs (things like Weapons of Calorie-free, High-Energy Burn down, Well of Radiance, etc).
Never intended to brand a breakdown post (as I'm in the centre of updating my spreadsheets and making my "Construct" Combatants follow-up breakdown) only I've seen a lot of crossed wires of "does it" and "doesn't it". This post is going to breakdown exactly how "Radiant" works and its interactions with every other Empowering Buff.
I typed this up before Update 4.1.0.1 simply stopped to consider that they may tweak its interaction in the update, just I haven't spotted annihilation changed so continued to write this upwards.
A lot of this information has been crowd-sourced and credit towards the post-obit:
- Destiny Massive Breakdowns (Science Guardians; a lot of oversupply sourcing where I've been otherwise super busy due to the new Seasonal changes)
- NickTew (YouTube content creator; who originally prompted me to take a closer expect and had already tested many of the interactions)

As a preamble, this is another postal service in a series of breakdowns I've down in the past:
- Häkke Breach Armaments and the "Vehicles" Combatant Type
- Umbral Sharpening + Undocumented Empowering Buffs Changes S16
- Focusing Lens
- Lucky Pants
- Star-Eater Scales
- Nightmare Mods
And of class the maintenance and upkeep of the massive Buffs/Debuffs and Data Spreadsheets (which also provides guides for Stacking Damage Modifiers and Types of Champions).
You can also discover me in the Destiny Massive Breakdowns customs including the MB:PvE Podcast and MB Discord server, and I postal service various Destiny informative guides and graphics on my Twitter too.

Radiant and Solar 3.0
Radiant is a brand new keyword (or 'verb') introduced to the Solar Bracket reworks. They are in a similar vein to Void's "Weaken" keyword where a bunch of modifiers that do the same thing accept been consolidated into a unmarried category. Season 17 brought a few improvements to the popup tooltips when you hover over a node to give a clearer understand what exactly provides, amplifies, or otherwise interacts with Solar Keywords (similar Radiant – just likewise Scorch, Ignition, Cure, and Restoration – though these aren't the subject area of this post).
So what exactly is Radiant?
- In-game tooltip:
- "Your weapons are enhanced by the ability of the Traveler and deal increased damage to foes."
- Golden Guns (Marksman and Deadshot):
- Also benefits from being Radiant
- Which also stacks with Exotics similar Celestial Nighthawk and Star-Eater Scales
- Damage Increase:
- 25% in PvE
- ten% in PvP
Electric current Prompts/Modifiers that provide Radiant
- Hunter's Acrobat's Dodge
- Contrivance-ability provides Radiant (to yourself and nearby allies)
- Hunter's Lightweight Knife
- Precision hit provides Radiant (to yourself only)
- Ember of Torches Fragment
- Powered Melee hits provides Radiant (to yourself and nearby allies)
- Warlock's Rain of Burn down Exotic Legs
- Linear Fusion and Fusion Rifle kills provide Radiant that affects all Weapons (to yourself only)
- Can be used on any Subclass
- Flavor 17 Artifact Mod Radiant Orbs
- Picking up an Orb of Power provides Radiant (to yourself only)
With the exception of Rain of Fire, all Radiant durations are the same at 10s or with the Fragment Ember of Solace at 15s. Rain of Burn down's Radiant is 8s and 13 respectively. The elapsing is the same in both PvE and PvP sandboxes. The duration can be refreshed for equally long as you perform one of those triggers.
There is as well a Fragment called "Ember of Empyrean" which is currently locked out at the time of this post (completed by the Community Challenge, and pretty soon too) which judging by its tooltip will extend or otherwise refresh the Radiant timer (think of Void'due south Devour) equally long as y'all are using a Solar weapon or ability to impale targets. I'll update this postal service appropriately one time it'southward unlocked.
Empowering Buffs
Radiant slots amongst the crowded "Empowering Buffs" family unit – its stacking interactions I'll breakdown soon but let'due south refresh what these are.
Currently Empowering Buffs are split into 4 Tiers with varying degrees of say-so which are also split differently in PvE and PvP sandboxes. Empowering Buffs improves your outgoing Weapon impairment – they practice not touch on Supers (including Gold Gun), Grenades, Melees, and pick-up Objects.
PvE
Tier 4 – 40% | Tier three – 35% | Tier 2 – 25% | Tier ane – 20% |
---|---|---|---|
Imprint Shield's Weapons of Lite | Lumina'southward Blessing | Ward of Dawn'due south Weapons of Lite | Inertia Override |
4x Firewalker | Boots Assembler'southward Blessing | Well of Radiance | Frontal Assault |
4x Silvery Ordnance | 3x Firewalker | 2x Firewalker | Empowering Rift |
Surprise Attack | 3x Silver Ordnance | 2x Argent Ordnance | Mantle of Battle Harmony |
4x/5x Umbral + Glythkeeper Mods | Lucent Blade | 2x Umbral + Glythkeeper Mods | 1x Firewalker |
3x Umbral + Glythkeeper Mods | 1x Argent Ordnance | ||
Sect of Insight Mod | High-Free energy Fire | ||
1x Umbral + Glythkeeper Mods |
PvP
Tier iv – 35% | Tier 3 – 25% | Tier 2 – 20% | Tier 1 – 15% |
---|---|---|---|
Banner Shield's Weapons of Light | Ward of Dawn's Weapons of Light | Frontal Set on | Inertia Override |
4x Firewalker | Well of Radiance | Mantle of Boxing Harmony | Empowering Rift |
4x Argent Ordnance | 2x Firewalker | 1x/3x Firewalker ** | Lumina's Blessing |
Surprise Attack | 2x Silverish Ordnance | 1x Argent Ordnance | Boots Assembler's Blessing |
Lucent Bract | High-Energy Fire |
Cardinal/Glossary:
- "Firewalker" = The Path of Burning Steps Titan Exotic Legs
- * – Firewalker is currently bugged at 3x stacks to provide a lower damage increase of 20% (aforementioned as 1x stack); it corrects itself at 4x stacks at 35%*
- "Lumina'south Approving" = Blessing of the Sky from the Exotic Manus Cannon Lumina
- "Boots Assembler'south Blessing" = Blessing of the Sky from the Boots of the Assembler Warlock Exotic Legs
- "Umbral + Glyphkeeper Mods" = Vow of the Disciple'due south Umbral Sharpening and the Glyphkeeper Family of Mods
Stacking Radiant with Empowering Buffs
Here'southward the meat of this mail service: does Radiant stack with Empowering Buffs? Sort of.
Currently, at the fourth dimension of this post, Radiant is stacking with some Empowering Buffs. The "some" are conveniently all located inside a specific Tier of Empowering Buffs.
- All Tier 1 (PvE simply; 20%) Empowering Buffs stack with Radiant (25%)
- These are: Inertia Override, Frontal Set on, Empowering Rift, Drape of Battle Harmony, 1x Firewalker, 1x Silverish Ordnance, High-Energy Burn down, and 1x Umbral + Glyphkeeper Mods
- This represents a multiplicative stacking bonus of 50% (1.2×one.25=ane.5)
- Meaning, yep equally of now, stacking Radiant with a Tier 1 Empowering Buff outperforms Tier 4 Empowering Buffs like Banner Shield or Surprise Assail
- It does Not stack with whatever Empowering Buffs in Tiers 2, 3, and four
- If y'all've spotted the correlation, nice!
- If not: yes, Radiant is stacking with whatever Empowering Buff that it is higher than itself, simply not with Empowering Buffs that are the same value or college
- Radiant does Non stack with itself (further triggers will but refresh the duration)
- Interestingly I noticed Lucent Blade, the only one I could verify as to exist doing this, was actually beingness overridden by Radiant effects. Not quite sure what'south special with this.
- None of this affects PvP, which is why and where the hypothesis of "Radiant stacks with anything lower than itself" has been coined – because Radiant cannot stack with any Empowering Buff tier considering it's only 10% in PvP
I've seen and answered this question a few times: "what about Well of Radiance?"
- Well of Radiance's clarification was changed to synergize with the Solar keywords of "Radiant" and "Restoration"
- At the time of this mail Well of "Radiance" itself is causing Golden Gun to not become buffed
- Appears to be bugging out with other furnishings that synergize with "Radiant"
- This might exist some issue with how Well of Radiance works and it merely isn't functioning correctly (cast your memories dorsum to Focusing Lens, which I broke downwards many moons ago)
What about other things like Global Debuffs, Font of Might, Power of Rasputin, Lucky Pants, etc?
- Those things aren't considered "Empowering Buffs" and then will safely stack with both Radiant and Empowering Buffs
- Font of Might as a reminder is something which I coin every bit an "Amplification Effect" to differentiate it from Empowering Buffs; it also has and will continue to proceed stacking only fine!
Intentional?
I'm definitely erring on the side of "no, this is non intended and likely bewitched out interaction". We know Bungie's philosophy of damage stacking and how they do non want harm accelerations without you having to build into information technology; that's why Font of Might stacking exists and if you want to tap into it you need Elemental Wells to spawn, Elemental Time Dilation, and multiple Font of Might Mods to extend the uptime. The implication is that "Radiant" is designed to be part of the "Empowering Buffs" family – slotting betwixt Tiers two and 1 in PvE, and at the bottom in PvP
This has a lot of the aforementioned vibes that my previous breakdowns on Umbral Sharping overriding Empowering Buffs, and Focusing Lens having unique interactions inside a Well of Radiance. What's happening hither is likely Radiant
But if you lot desire to maximize damage output then become for High-Energy Fire with Radiant while it lasts!
Stacking Graphic
If you didn't already know I created and currently maintain an up-to-date Seasonal Stacking Graphic which quantifies how Stacking Buffs and its Rules works visually. It has a guide on how these interact with other modifiers like Global Debuffs, Amplification Modifiers, Weapon Perks, and more and includes some exceptions and examples.
You tin can views this over on my Twitter, or the full Guide on my spreadsheet (where it'll be the nigh up-to-engagement).
+++++
tl;dr:
- Radiant – a Solar Sandbox Keyword – buffs Weapon and Golden Gun damage by 25% in PvE and 10% in PvP
- It currently – as of this posts timestamp – stacks with twenty% Empowering Buffs similar High-Energy Burn down and Empowering Rift (total list in the main post)
- This represents a fifty% damage increase (ane.25×i.20=one.50)
- Yes this means its better than Banner Shield or 4x Argent Ordnance Mods
- It does NOT stack with PvE 25%, 35%, and forty% Empowering Buffs similar Banner Shield, Well of Radiance, Ward of Dawn, etc (total list in the main mail service)
- Well of Radiance currently overrides Radiant – meaning Gilded Gun's harm output from inside a Well of Radiance is reduced
- Clear-cut Blade appears to exist overridden by Radiant (so you practise less damage) – this is the only edge case I tin can verify whereas all other Empowering Buffs correctly override Radiant
- None of this applies in PvP where Radiant is correctly overridden by all other Empowering Buffs
- Radiant – as a functionality – is technically considered as an Empowering Buff which is why I dubiousness information technology stacking is intended and will near likely be changed in the future
- Yes: yous tin stack Global Debuffs with both Radiant and Empowering Buffs
- Yes: yous tin stack Font of Might and other modifiers like Power of Rasputin, Lucky Pants, etc with both Radiant and Empowering Buffs
- I posted a summary/visual guide over on my Twitter likewise
Alright, that's a wrap. If you have any questions let me know!

- Edit #i Well of Radiance: Had some old script re: Well of Radiance. Well is currently bugged with the whole "Radiant" functionality, and then isn't correctly buffing Gilded Gun.
